Artist statement

"Art is not a thing — it is a way."

Raised in Santiago de Chile in a family of ten siblings, Rosa Lopez has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. Colour, movement and memory have guided her practice ever since.

About

Rosa Lopez

Raised in Santiago de Chile in a family of ten siblings, Rosa Lopez moved to Australia in 2012. Inspired by her past and the everyday scene — colour, movement, landscape and the human figure — her art is an impression of feelings and technical expertise.

Motion, urban scenarios, linear and architectural compositions take her attention enormously. Using acrylic and Chinese ink on cotton paper or canvas, Rosa combines grayish green and pink colours, vertical and horizontal lines that define a unique stamp of the artist.
